You really don’t have to join those who are in a permanent state of unhappiness. Being happy is all about deciding that you want to be happy. It is not a state that is robotically attained. To be happy and actually so, you should adhere to the following:

• Acceptance: Most of our emotions that are negative in nature stem from frictions that arise as a consequence of social interactions. Most a times, friction in relationships crop up whenever there is an attempt to change someone into your ideal image of how you want the person to be. To be happy, you should learn to accept people the way they are and actually appreciate their differences.

• Avoid bad news: Don’t be like other people who can’t move a leg without getting an idea about what’s going on in the world. In case you haven’t noticed, news these days is bad news and that can be a real mood damper.

• Be grateful: Be thankful for small things such as getting home safely or having a house of rowdy children. When you adopt a thankful attitude, not much can get you down.

• Get in touch with your spirituality: The happiest people in the world are those who are in touch with their spirit nature. Being a member of a religious group can go a long way in helping you live a happier balanced life. You can’t be happy unless you choose to be.
